Newark Trees

The program Newark Greenstreets brought together a range of partners to plant about 1,000 street trees a year on residential blocks in all five wards. The program has engaged Newark high school students in urban forestry, using the learning lab of their own neighborhoods and parks. It has also offered training and employment opportunities to ex-offenders graduating from the Clean and Green program.

The youth participants generated video and photo documentaries about their experiences, made weekly field trips, during which they learned about careers in community greening from esteemed professionals. Find out more at www.newarkgreenstreets.org and in the video below:
